Why Use a Realtor?

REALTORS® are members of the National Association of REALTORS® and subscribe to its strict Code of Ethics.

Real estate transactions involve one of the biggest financial investments most people experience in their lifetime. Accordingly, it is essential to work with a knowledgeable and trusted professional. There are many factors to consider when buying or selling a home and a REALTOR® can offer invaluable insight-- insight that may save you a great deal of money - or save you from a terrible mistake. Real estate transactions can be complex; a REALTOR® can make a difference.

  1. 1. Act as an expert guide. Buying a home typically requires a variety of forms, reports, disclosures, and other legal and financial documents. A knowledgeable real estate agent will know what's required in your market, helping you avoid delays and costly mistakes.
  2. 2. Offer objective information and opinions. A great real estate agent will guide you through the home search with an unbiased eye, helping you meet your buying objectives while staying within your budget.
  3. 3. Give you expanded search power. You want access to the full range of opportunities. Using a cooperative system called the multiple listing service, your agent can help you evaluate all active listings that meet your criteria, alert you to listings soon to come on the market and provide data on recent sales.
  4. 4. Stand in your corner during negotiations. There are many factors up for discussion in any real estate transaction—from price to repairs to possession date. A real estate professional who’s representing you will look at the transaction from your perspective, helping you negotiate a purchase agreement that meets your needs and allows you to do due diligence before you’re bound to the purchase.
  5. 5. Provide fair and ethical treatment. When you're interviewing agents, ask if they're a REALTOR®, a member of the National Association of REALTORS®. Every member must adhere to the REALTOR® Code of Ethics, which is based on professionalism, serving the interests of clients, and protecting the public.

Benefits of using a Realtor

Contracts and Negotiations

A Realtor has access to the most recent contracts approved by the Association of Realtors, so that you, seller or buyer, can be sure to be using the most updated clauses while selling or buying.  Negotiating a sale or a purchase of a home can be tough, especially in a very active market like todays.  So, working with a realtor can bring you the certainty that you are doing the best possible deal.

Real Estate Regulations

A Realtor is trained to have knowledge of all the regulations in the real estate market.  Whether you are buying or selling, there are certain steps you will need to follow to get to the closing day, and a Realtor can make sure you are following the right regulations.

Pricing and Selling a Home

Pricing a property may seem obvious, but if the property is not priced well, the seller may be leaving money on the table or the property may sit on the market for a long time, which can deteriorate the value of the property.  A Realtor can make sure your property is priced well and fair, and make sure it is sold in a timely manner.
